


The outcomes we are assessing in this assignment are:

An understanding of, and ability to use, Common Worship’s ‘A Service of the Word’, and apply it to your own, and other CofE, traditions and settings.

An understanding of, and ability to use, the Church of England's liturgical calendar and lectionary.

An understanding of, and ability to use, the GOPIA method of service design.
-
Competency in the practices of prayer, spirituality and leading worship, including an understanding of the concept of flow in worship.

The ability to give an accurate, brief, account of some of the concepts, history and development of an area of Christian Spirituality and apply these to your ministry & context.

The ability to reflect critically and theologically on your own practice and experience of ministry, drawing on the theological resources learned in this module and communicating this effectively.

The ability to gather, organise and present materials for a set task and keep to the timings / word counts prescribed.

The ability to reference correctly and include a bibliography.

You must cover all the above outcomes in order to pass. Higher marks will be given for clarity of expression and structure, interesting engagement with the relevant material, and depth of cirtical thinking and theological reflection. Please refer to the Assignnment Handbook here before you start.

Option 1 - Project

Ensuring you cover all the above outcomes, design and submit a weekday Service of the Word which includes a creative prayer exercise, and, in no fewer than 1500 and no more than 2000 words, write or audio record the reasoning for your choices . End by reflecting on what you think might be the strengths and weaknesses of the service and what you might do differently in a different context.

Option 2 - Resource for Others & Rationale (LLM(R)s only)

Ensuring you cover all the above outcomes, design and deliver a 25 to 30 minute weekday Service of the Word which includes a creative prayer exercise, and, in no fewer than 1500 and no more than 2000 words, include a rationale explaining the reasons for your choices. End by reflecting on what you think might be the strengths and weaknesses of the service and what you might do differently in a different context.

Option 3 - Reflective Learning Journal

Ensuring you cover all the above outcomes, create a reflective learning journal of no fewer than 2500 words and no more than 3000. Your journal should demonstrate learning over time and how you are applying that learning to your own context as well as how it might be applied in different CofE contexts.
