


The outcomes we are assessing in this assignment are:

The ability to investigate and describe competently a major area of Christian doctrine.

The ability to investigate and describe competently a major development in church history.

Discuss intelligently some key issues in contemporary Christian thought about this area of doctrine and history.

​The ability to demonstrate an understanding of, and sensitivity to, the application of this area of doctrine to different Church settings and traditions.

The ability to gather, oranise and present materials for a set task and keep to the timings / word counts prescribed.

The ability to reference correctly and include a bibliography.

You must cover all the above outcomes in order to pass. Higher marks will be given for clarity of expression and structure, interesting engagement with the relevant material, and depth of cirtical thinking and theological reflection. Please refer to the Assignnment Handbook here before you start.

Option 1 - Project

Ensuring you cover all the above outcomes, investigate one specific area of Christian doctrine, how its history and different presentation have developed and how it is relevant to your parish today. In no fewer than 2300 and no more than 2500 words, write up what you have found.

Option 2 - Sermon

Ensuring you cover all the above outcomes, write a sermon on a particular area of doctrine and present it to your congregation or to camera. Audio or video record your sermon. Ensure that you make the sermon engaging and relevant to life today and your particular ministry context.

Option 3 - Theological Reflection

Ensuring you cover all the above outcomes, write a theological reflection of no fewer than 2300 words and no more than 2,500 words, on one particular doctrine you have learned about in this module. End with a reflection on how you see that doctrine being worked out in your own parish and ministerial context.
